“I Like You and I Love You”

Just a few weeks into our first year at university, D and I began dating and October 1st 2004 is the day we decided to make it official. Yesterday would have been our 11th anniversary and even though we got married this summer, we wanted to continue celebrating that day because honestly, the more you can celebrate your relationship the better. We didn’t do much – D was working all day and then went to hockey – but afterwards we did have a drink and spend time with one another. It was all we needed.

D and I were compatible from the beginning and have always admired one another tremendously, which is why we get along so well. Even though we challenge each other, debating issues and ideas adamantly, we do so with kindness and respect because at the end of the day, what we want is to grow individually while also becoming better together.

We make each other’s lives more enjoyable and while we both love a good adventure, we find fun anywhere we go – even if it’s super touristy.

One of the greatest parts of our relationship is that it’s allowed our family life to become richer. From the beginning, D has always been part of my family, and I apart of his. Over the years, we’ve expanded and made a family of our own with our friends and our dogs, which is pretty much everything you could hope for.

D's family has also taken me in and I now have the good fortune of having a ginormous family. This photo was taken during a family trip out to Newfoundland in 2012.

This year has certainly been full of ups and downs to say the least and it’s made me that much more grateful to have D by my side. Thank you for being there for me through thick and thin.
